Tammy’s NewStart Surgical Weight Loss Story is Inspiring

My Life Before Surgery…

…I struggled with my weight my whole life. I was always a “chubby” Kid. I joined the Army after high school and I always had to go through the embarrassment every year of not passing the weigh in and then being taped to make sure my BMI was appropriate for me to remain in the military. After the military I still struggled daily, just getting out of bed was painful. That’s when I started looking into surgery.

My Life After Surgery…

…is amazing. Within the first year I lost 100 pounds. I reached my goal weight of 150 pounds within about 14 months. I maintained 150-160 for about 3 years, then hit a rough back and jumped back up to 195. This is when I knew I needed to get back on track, so did some counseling, down loaded Fitbit, and drooped the 45 pounds. My advice to anyone considering or in the process is to know that this surgery is not a cure to our food addiction. It is just an AWESOME TOOL to get you where you need to be.

The Biggest Change I Have Experienced…

…is I feel so blessed to be where I am now. At 47 years old I can keep up with my 10 year old, and feel like I’m going to be around for her for a long time. I’m off my cholesterol medication and no longer have knee, back or foot pain. It is life changing! Good luck to all in your journey.
